Setelah Microsoft secara resmi melepas Windows 7 Build 7048 32-bit and 64-bit, beberapa minggu yang lalu muncul rumor di kalangan para netter mengenai adanya kemungkinan versi Release Candidate (RC) dari Windows 7 ini sudah bocor ke tangan public. Rumor ini kemudian diperkuat dengan adanya Windows 7 Build 7057 32-bit (x86), yang dikompilasi pada 5 March 2009, telah bocor ke Torrent Network dan tersedia bebas untuk di download melalui BitTorrent client. Dan berbedanya versi ini dengan build version sebelumnya memberikan suatu clue yang mengarah pada versi build 7057 ini berpotensi sebagai versi Realease Candidate 1 build dari Windows 7.

Salah satu perbedaan yang mencolok pada versi build 7057 ini dengan versi-versi build yang sebelumnya adalah, perubahan pada string “For Testing Purpose Only” yang diganti dengan “Evaluation Copy…” yang akan berakhir pada 2 March 2010.
